Hello, I'm queer-scribbling, and you may call me Briar.
You can use they/their/theirs/themself pronouns for me, but don't be alarmed if other pronouns are experimented with in the future.
I'm currently a mod in the Pillowfort Snowflake Challenge community, 'Mod Briar' for the Gender Exploration Carnival, and I'm a back-up mod for the Pillowfort Fandom Calendar community.
While I've been a fannish person for years, I only got around to creating a Dreamwidth account in December 2023 in order to help out with the 2024 round of Fandom Snowflake Challenge. My archive will back-date posts from Pillowfort and various Tumblr blogs (including a Wordle sideblog), but it's not going to offend me if most people aren't interested in all that. It's likely that you, hypothetical reader, are stopping by because of the Fandom Snowflake Challenge, and you want to get an idea of what fannish things you might encounter here.
I started out with the Harry Potter books, and even though my relationship to the HP fandom has been complicated over the years, I'm not going to pretend I never did anything with that fandom at all. (It will be quite obvious to anyone who glances at my AO3 or SqWA that I've written HP fic.) I started out with some common ships, but I've done a few rarepair events within the last few years, so the overall ships might seem a bit random. Due to Snack-O-Ween, the most amount of fic for one ship is Sirius Black/Severus Snape.
Most of my fannish posting on Dreamwidth and Pillowfort are recaps (with some grumbling about certain episodes), though I don't make a point of posting about all shows. I'm pretty sure I don't have anything to archive/back-date for Criminal Minds, Miracle Workers, the CW reboot of Roswell New Mexico, The Exorcist, or The Strain for example. Some shows have languished in a partially watched status - Hannibal, Manifest, Merlin, NCIS (stopped watching after Gibbs retired). There's a slim chance I might finish some of these shows one day, but in 2025, it's quite likely that you'll hear about - All Creatures Great & Small (US airing starting in January 2025), Fire Country, Only Murders in the Building (tv airing of season 2), S.W.A.T. (coming back for a final season), Vienna Blood, and What We Do In The Shadows (also coming back for a final season).
AO3: queerlybeloved777 (main pseud, gets non-fanfic fanworks), slashaholic666 gets Harry Potter fanworks, and lapsed-bookworm gets non-HP fanfic. My current transformative works statement can be found in my AO3 profile.
I'm in the process of backing up my fanworks on SquidgeWorld Archive: queerlybeloved777. Pseud breakdowns are a mirror of AO3's pseuds. Some fannish nonfiction previously posted during March Meta Matters Challenge is now Squidge exclusive due to not being accepted on AO3.
If you'd like to be added to one of my Access Lists, feel free to comment on this post.
PF (Mutuals Only), PF (Followers Only), and PF (Login Only): The applicable view-lock settings on Pillowfort. Open to Pillowfort mutuals, followers, or those who have a Pillowfort account, are okay with sharing your PF username, and you want to see any of those posts here. (If you don't care to see any of that outside of PF, feel free to ignore.)
DW Subscribers: Sort of the equivalent of 'followers only' here on DW. You'll probably be given Access if you subscribe, but if you specifically want to ask for that Access without having to subscribe, you can do so in a comment.
Location Aware: This currently has #political scribbling and archived posts that mention the [USA] state I live in. (I don't plan on my location specifics getting more detailed than the state level.) I want to make this opt-in, since I imagine that most people will be interacting with my Dreamwidth for fandom and fannish stuff.

Date: Tuesday, 9 January 2024 09:16 am (UTC)That is awesome of you! Thanks for pitching in.
There are various communities for newcomers including
>>I sometimes dabble in reading fic for shows I haven't finished,<<
There are plenty of shows where like I like fanfic but not the canon. And I never know what someone will pitch me as a prompt to write.
