Day #13: In your own space, rec three fanworks that you did not create.

I have two [new] fics [and one update on rec from last year]. Yeah, more Sirius Black/Severus Snape. (Length of the rec is not related to how much I liked the fic. The longer one is being copied from a queued post over on tumblr.)

Day #9: In your own space, In your own space, celebrate a personal win from the past year: it can be a list of fanworks you're especially proud of, time you spent in the community, a quality or skill you cultivated in yourself, something you generally feel went well.

After not really posting much on AO3 for a bit, I suddenly did things in 2022.

A kinda weird not-actually-dead fic: Only Mostly Dead - Complete. Ten chapters; 8,444 words. [Gen, but you can sort of squint and see a potential Drarry moment in one chapter.]

I wrote two gifted fics for New Year's Resolution 2022.

I finished more than one work for Crack the WIP 2022.

I posted some "I hope this counts as meta" works on AO3 for March Meta Matters Challenge.

I watched the last season of Killing Eve, and let's just say that I'm tired of Redemption Through Death.

A fic with an unrequited ship and, uncharacteristic for me, a Time Travel premise: Better Mistakes - Complete. 4,571 words. Sorta the beginning of my descent into writing a particular rarepair [Sirius/Severus - see comment].

For HP Flowers 2022 Spring Round: Moonwort, For Opening Locks - Complete. 8,663 words. (Gen, but like, in a Non-Romantic Marriage and Married For Tax Benefits way.)

A fic for Dreamwith's Rarepair Hell Weekend and another fic with this Gen ship. Like, I get that it's probably tag-wrangled with the human character, but I am horribly compelled by 'this human is nice to the dog form of a person they hate'.

A self imposed challenge in October: Snack-O-Ween 2022. It cross-filled with other October events, so I have Tricks, Treats, and Trick Or Treats in my Round Up. (I wrote a drabble for the first time. I tried to incorporate Final Destination into a fic premise. I had some fun with weird premises like 'the Death Eaters are literally a Lovecraftian Cult'. Overall, not half bad.)

For HP Flowers 2022 Autumn Round: a thousand nights that end like this - Complete. Twelve chapters; 8,840 words. Every chapter has a different character's point of view and how they see (or do not see) the main tagged ship, so some chapters are more non-shippy compared to others.

I did a few cross-fills for HP Yuletide Bliss, 25 Days of Kinkmas, and Snolidays, but I wound up not getting anything done for the Panfandom Hanukkah Bingo. (Maybe I'll side-eye slash fix the Ghosts [US show] Xmas special next year....)

Works in Progress: For whatever reason, I was briefly possessed by a Rubeus Hagrid/Sybill Trelawney entry for 25 Days of Kinkmas, but I'm unsure if/when that will be finished. I put together an on the back burner tag, since I thought it might help in choosing something for a potential 2023 round of Crack the WIP. There are several options that were started in 2022, but one I didn't mention was my 'writing about knitting instead of knitting' fic: The Jumper Jinx - Currently eight chapters and 13,975 words. [It's focused on Percy after he graduates from Hogwarts, so there are several relationships, but the endgame is Percy/Oliver.]

Day #7: In your own space, interact with a community or a fic.

I got part of the way through writing up a rec for a fic last night when I was pleasantly surprised by a related work notification email from AO3 today. (Not one, but two.)

❄️ [Podfic] A Mistress For Christmas - Read by LenaReads (LenaLawlipop)

Link to my comment. I put together a double drabble for some wintry events in December 2022, and I honestly wasn't expecting anyone to ever podfic it. There's no ship, and I poked fun at stock Dominant phrases a bit instead of actually writing a D/s scene for the prompt. It sounds funnier when someone's actually saying things with inflection and all that, so this podfic was nice to listen to.

❄️ [Podfic] A Favourite Silence - Read by LenaReads (LenaLawlipop)

Link to my comment. Again, another fic I never imagined someone podficcing, so it was really nice to see a notification for this. I wrote something short for a Samhain fill in October 2022, and it's a Number 12 Grimmauld Place POV of different generations of Silent Suppers. The last bit with the current people leaving and the house being alone for the first time sounds so much sadder when you hear someone.

Day #4: In your own space, add something to your fandom’s canon.

I wouldn't necessarily say that I'm in the Monarch fandom, but my family gave the show a try in autumn 2022 and just found out it's not being renewed for 2023. I'm not surprised, and I think spreading out some of the 10 or 11 episodes of season 1 into plot points that could have been handled in a hypothetical season 2 might have helped. Maybe.

Spoilers for season 1 below the read-more.

Day #2: In your own space, write a promo, manifesto or primer for your fave character, ship or fandom.

I don't think I gravitate towards promos, manifestos, or primers for the most part. I'm either interacting with a large enough fandom that's been well established for years (like Supernatural or HP), or I'm kinda late to any relatively smaller ones (like What We Do In The Shadows). The only time I actually got a primer together before season one ended was last January when I thought I should explain Ordinary Joe a bit for any potential AO3 Tag Wranglers - Fandom Primer: Ordinary Joe.

The primer was intended for anyone wanting to start out without getting the entire show explained/spoilered, but I also wanted to try to make the different timelines clear. Some later season characters, ships, and more infidelity didn't make it into the tagging. Last summer, there also was an unsurprising announcement that the show was not going to be renewed for a second season. I remember while looking for different places where people were gathering to talk about the show that I ran into someone already predicting that it wouldn't be renewed.

Day #1: In your own space, update your fandom information!

I tend to use Pillowfort to share personal reactions after an episode or grumble-slash-vent in a view locked space, so I don't have a lot of fandom content on my fort that I'd consider interesting. I'm not even sure I'd say I'm a 'fan' of some of the series I've mentioned, if someone expects me to like the canon and engage with fannish work relating to it. However, I have some of my tags below the read-more for anyone who'd like to get an idea of what I've grumbled about.
