The Ark (Season 1)
Tuesday, 27 June 2023 01:45 amWatching too many episodes all at once makes it hard to go back and try to write something for each one.
Episode 7: A Slow Death Is Worse Recap.
Episode 8: Every Single Person Matters Recap.
Episode 9: The Painful Way Recap.
Episode 10: Everybody Wins Recap.
Episode 7: A Slow Death Is Worse Recap.
Exploring Ark Three. Kelly is the lone survivor. Subsequent versions of the Arks have Faster Than Light [FTL] travelling capabilities due to the machine taken from Ark Three, but the deactivation code [for the security measures against stealing] is from Lane waking up William Trust and his wife from their cryo-pods.
Episode 8: Every Single Person Matters Recap.
Do you remember all that progress Lane and Garnet made in getting along reasonably well? No, you don't. Kelly flirts with Angus, and I could really use not doing a 'love triangle' tactic in a story. The trippy 'seeing past us' parts with trying to retrofit the FTL machine to their engine isn't half bad; you know, actor enrichment and less than fatal stakes. However, I will say that I was not expecting Cat [therapist] and William Trust to pick up with an affair started on Earth.
Episode 9: The Painful Way Recap.
Gee, I wonder what the higher-ups could have done to inoculate their crew against a mutiny. Communication and transparency surely couldn't be part of the answer. Anyways, no one even addresses that William Trust's experimental "shield" doesn't even work when Ark Fifteen attacks, so I don't know what the unnamed crew members who supported the Trusts-and-Lane backed mutiny were thinking. I'm not sure if it was mentioned before - Ross 128B is the 'back up' planet after Proxima B, but even with FTL travelling, it will take "years" to get there. Naturally, Ark Fifteen is also heading to Proxima B, so Garnet tries to redirect to Ross, which fully triggers the mutinous stuff.
Episode 10: Everybody Wins Recap.
Season One Finale, so it feels like a lot happens. Garnet eventually brokers a truce with Evelyn Maddox, who is in charge of Ark Fifteen, over getting the needed spider species from the vault, so the last ingredient for the cure for Klamkin's could be made. [Brice and Evelyn live.] But, there's kidnapping, Mrs Trust dies from being stabbed, and Kelly leaves Angus with some possible PTSD about relationship stuff [after he has to pretend to like her in order to stay alive], and the fucking planet explodes. [Something about trying to fix the sun-locked position? It seemed a bit much.] Proxima B isn't even going to work out, so now both Ark Fifteen and Ark One need to find another planet.
