Fandom Snowflake Challenge

Challenge #15: How did the Fandom Snowflake Challenge go? Did you get all you wanted to get from it? Are there things you're going to carry with you for as long as you can? Are you going to continue to challenge yourself? Continue to connect? We can't wait to hear.

As a participant, I completed more challenges this year than the past few years, so it feels a bit like I interacted more. If I hadn't had so many days off from work due to inclement weather, I think I would have finished fewer responses, and I do appreciate those on DW who stop by to leave comments on my DW cross-posts. Overall, I think Fandom Snowflake Challenge went okay.

Next year... Hm. I always feel a bit like I need to complete at least a few challenges since I'm a mod, but we'll just see what January 2027 is like. If we don't get any winter storms, I may have to live with having less free time to complete my own challenge responses. I have wondered if doing a hitching post after a round of Fandom Snowflake Challenge would be interesting, but I wouldn't want people to feel left out if one of their posts weren't mentioned.

While I commented with my mod hat on for these posts, I thought I'd try hunting up some links for 2026 anyways:

• I got a glimpse into the Ghost band fandom via ~cozyblanket.
• I'm a small step closer to one day giving the show Leverage a try courtesy of ~yarnofariadne.
• I liked acknowledgements that fandom isn't always positive (~Kalium) or a guaranteed welcoming, community space for everyone (~ArimaMay).
• I thought ~Kalium's post on the character sculpture events was interesting in terms of the events described but also in terms of a conversation about more hobby event diversity (and more third spaces for socializing).
