Hitching Post
The week of (roughly) July 10th to July 17th [2020]:
Offsite [Tumblr] - Reposted "This Is Not A Normal Mental Health Disaster" (shared full article under a cut for those who can't access it).
Offsite [Tumblr] - Shared "Gee, Officer: Why Are There So Few Plays About Cops?".
LGBTHistory - Shared a POZ article about the AIDS Memorial Quilt.
Comments:
~belowdesire - If one were interested in (re)watching shows, Project Free TV might be a useful resource to know about. You can't find every show, but it might help with watching, say, Netflix shows.
PC - How did the lime green/turquoise quoi flag become more well known than the question mark quoi flag? I don't know, but I'm also not sure why people don't use non-quadrilateral shapes in flags more. It might be less than ideal for digital art stuff, but weird shapes already happen with offline flags in other uses, so why hasn't anyone borrowed that for pride flags?
Siggy - Disidentification with asexuality is essential [comment]. Ah yes, the unexpected and somewhat embarrassing relief of letting go of guilt you didn't realize you were holding onto. Also commented about wanting past-me to have this in certain Allo vs Ace discussions with some in the Tumblr aro community.
Posts of interest:
PC's post about wishing we could get specific with blacklisting and whitelisting by user. I still have a vague wish for sitewide tags specifically for blacklists to catch that would be separate from an individual's tags, but I do like this idea for how to blacklist user tags as they get used now.
Coy shared a relatable video about social media algorithms.
PC put this joke post about DNI banners on my feed (the comments go into BYFs, DNIs, and mostly Tumblr). I can understand the reasoning for why DNI banners started to get used by aesthetic blogs on Tumblr, but I've got to admit that what has gone across my dash in the years since then has created a wariness around DNI banners.
