SquidgeWorld is adding Original Works as a fandom. If I understand correctly, this will kick in after this upcoming Sunday's maintenance (March 29th). I dropped a mention of this over on a March Meta Matters Challenge check-in because I'm hoping this may be helpful to someone interested in archiving their works.

Original Works - Essays and Meta: Think of this as the, "I'm here to convince you to watch more science fiction shows" or "Here is what action movies get wrong about female characters" and the like.

I suspect this may be the most helpful option.

Original Works - Diaries and Journals: This is where you can create something with your own personal thoughts. Almost like a blogpost or such.

For all the 'is this really an essay or more of a blog post' sort of questioning.

Original Works - Guidance and Instructions: I don't think this will get quite much use, but you never know. Things under this "fandom" are truly instructions, like "How to save money in THIS economy" or the instructions I wrote on how to implement the OTW code to bring a new archive online.

Ye of little faith. I would absolutely think this could be where @/ao3commentoftheday could share workskin tutorials, or someone could share a guide on how to go about hosting X off-site and embedding it into a work.

PBS Shows - 'Bookish' & 'The Gold'

I don't want to lose this reply from the tv_talk community, but I also never tried to do episode by episode recaps because I didn't feel like I was engaging with the shows in question enough to warrant that. I have run into some people who bounced off 'Bookish' when they found out Mark Gatiss is the main lead, Mr Book. 'The Gold' ran on PBS Masterpiece in my viewing area in October and November 2025; 'Bookish' ran in January and February 2026.

I came across one of the thousands of reblogs of this post on Tumblr sharing a screenshot of the explanation of Metazooa. The Tumblr OP roughly describes it as phylogenetic Wordle, and you get 20 guess to figure out a species. For today, 3 March 2026, I didn't get the answer.

Challenge #11: Grant someone's wish from Challenge #5.

I didn't get around to granting a wish from the Wish List challenge. I looked at several, and then I realised: 1) I didn't have a way to send people money for the physical items they had individually linked to outside of gift buying lists, 2) I just couldn't afford the whole price of some of the physical items on gift buying lists, 3) I can't really create fanart for any of the 'I welcome fanart of my characters' wishes, and 4) I didn't have a way to fulfill the intangible wishes (f'ex, I'm not looking for a beta for any of my fics).

Switching to Linux

My attempt at Linux Minut XFCE basically went exactly the same as trying to install Linux Mint Cinnamon did, and I still need zero point one more GB of space to install Linux Mint XFCE on my laptop. Kinda my bad for not seeing that coming; apparently, if I can't handle the general amount for a Linux Mint install, I can't handle either Cinnamon or XFCE versions.

I keep finding myself too busy to switch my main laptop to a Linux option, and Windows 10 ended support *mumble mumble* months ago. (I don't have enough space for Windows 11, and I'm not feeling very enthusiastic about what I've heard about it.) This weekend is when I need to make the switch. Right now, I'm thinking of Linux Mint (probably Cinnamon).
