Fandom Snowflake Challenge

Challenge #1: The Icebreaker Challenge: Introduce yourself. Tell us why you're doing the challenge, and what you hope to gain from it.

Well, I'm the person who went from just cross-posting Snowflake Challenge posts in order to not lose them being shared here on Pillowfort to officially being a PF Snowflake Challenge mod.

It seems un-fun, but I feel like I'm taking part out of a sense of duty. I imagine some people have a negative association with that word, but I don't mind. A cyclical dependency where I have to interact with people I may not voluntarily seek out isn't the end of the world. Sometimes it feels a little awkward when I'm worried I'm bothering people I don't really know, but I think most people are aware that the mods have to go through and comment so it's not totally unexpected.

I've never really thought of myself as gaining something from taking part in this every year. I suppose I feel like I maintain a little connection to broader fannish activity since it's the Fandom Snowflake Challenge. I haven't really created any fanworks in a while, but this is a chance to be a non-creator contributing to a fandom experience.
